1)    Inventory of separate groups of animals and plants at the  Reserve and adjusted territories. Botany and zoology specialists of other scientific institutions are often involved in inventory work. New animal species are annually found at the  Reserve, and remarkable is that fact that many of them are new to Mordovia Republic. Currently there is more then 1700 invertebrates, 250 vertebrates, 789 vascular plants, 117 mosses, 144 Lichenes and more then 290 fungi species found.
 

2)    Rare animals and plants species inventory is being done while keeping records for The Red Book of Mordovia. For the time of animals and plants study a number of rarities have been detected. 
 

3)    For ecological monitoring are used such tools as annual winter route registration (WRR), analyses of sample areas existing for over 30 years, phenological monitoring.  
 

4)    Study of natural complexes growth dynamics. There are several particular treatment areas of different size in the  Reserve where any human intervention in natural processes is strictly forbidden. These are areas of biotic successions studies as well as 1972 and 2010 conflagration renewal process studies. 
 

5)    Zoological samples and Herbarium collection and upkeep.  Earlier, a collection of animal skulls was gathered and was made records card-system; now the work on creation insect, fish, amphibia and reptile collection bank and Herbarium is in progress. All the data are added to databases, which will be soon on open access (in electronic form).
 

6)     Reserve collected papers publishing. For 77 years of  Reserve existence there were published 11 collected papers and a number (more then 500) scientific publications in periodicals.
